LANXESS Donates Hundreds of Backpacks and School Supplies to Detroit Organizations

LANXESS Corp., a global specialty chemicals producer with strong ties to the automotive industry, has partnered with ARISE Detroit! to provide nearly 800 book bags and school supplies to seven Detroit community groups dedicated to helping city children.



Flemming B. Bjoernslev, president and CEO of LANXESS Corp. and employee volunteers will spend the day filling the bags with pens, pencils, notebooks, calculators and periodic tables followed by a special presentation at a news conference Monday, August 26, at the Wellness Annex of the Samaritan Center at 3:30 p.m. The center is located at 5555 Conner St., 48213 on Detroit’s east side. Representatives and volunteers from the organizations along with children receiving the filled book bags will be on hand.

“LANXESS is proud to partner with ARISE Detroit!, an organization committed to making a positive impact within the community,” said Flemming B. Bjoernslev, president and CEO of LANXESS Corp. “Education is one of LANXESS’ core values. We want to play an integral role in furthering the education of young people in the region.”
LANXESS  is providing the school supplies in connection with their Automotive Day Detroit conference to be held at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel on August 27. The industry platform brings together experts from the automotive industry, engineers, government and media representatives focusing on new technologies that enable manufacturers to meet the standards for CAFE and greenhouse emissions.
